NOTES:

Okay, time for round 2 of Big Thief at the Wiltern. Big Thief is one of those (amazing) bands that has such a deep catalogue of songs, that pretty much no two setlists (especially those on back-to-back nights) will be the same. I knew full well both shows would be somewhat different, and given I love pretty much all their songs and albums about the same, it was a no brainer to me to attend both shows rather than just one. I mean I had nothing else going on anyway, and it sure didn't hurt that for night two, I was able to get a "hook up" with getting into the show at no cost. Pretty sweet deal to me.

I ended up in pretty much the exact same spot as I was in the night before, down in the "pit" area, leaning up against the back wall. Perfect spot to stand/rest for the next 2.5 hours or so I thought.

The show definitely felt a bit mellower than the first night. I don't think Adrianne even picked up an electric guitar until about the 7th or 8th song in. She had to briefly stop during "12,000 Lines" because someone passed out in the front row. She mentioned this has been happening quite a bit on this tour, and she's right, according to Setlist.FM. I browsed the shows on there and saw several mentions at different shows of songs being stopped because someone passed out. I really don't get it. This isn't some crazy festival or a pushy/abusive crowd. It's very mellow, and calm. I can't understand how someone can pass out at one of these shows. I saw another girl before this incident taken out of the crowd too, and she looked completely out of it and dehydrated. So that's two people at this show alone who had to be attended to because they passed out. WTF? I swear these people have forgotten how to go to and enjoy a show. Buy a can/bottle of water and eat something. Holy crap. Maybe these venues should allow people to bring in one sealed bottle of water? I dunno the solution. Maybe people should just be smarter? Yeah good luck with that one...

Anyway, yeah, the show was definitely mellower than the night before, but I still really enjoyed it (even "Not" sounded not quite as dramatic as the night before). They switched up some of the songs and played stuff not heard the previous night, such as "Replaced", "Love Love Love" and "Sparrow", all of which sounded great. And she even played some of her solo stuff, which she didn't do the night before either.

Do yourself a favor, and if given the chance to catch Big Thief at a show, please do so. In my humble opinion, Adrianne (and the rest of the band) are literally some of the best breathing musicians and songwriters active and alive today. Adrianne has more talent in her index finger than a lot of bands/artists out there right now, it's not even close. God I want to see them again already...
